Singer/rapper Drake (Canada, b. Aubrey Drake Graham) became the most prolific hit-maker in US Billboard Hot 100 history when he debuted at No.89 with his 208th entry, “Oprah’s Bank Account”, on the chart dated 21 March 2020. The track – credited to Lil Yachty, Drake & DaBaby – broke a tie with the Glee Cast, who amassed 207 entries on the Hot 100 between June 2009 and October 2013.

Drake’s first Hot 100 hit was “Best I Ever Had”, which bowed at No.92 on the chart dated 23 May 2009 (incidentally, two weeks before the Glee Cast made their Hot 100 debut on 6 June 2009). All 25 tracks from his fifth studio album, Scorpion (2018), and all 22 songs from mixtape More Life – A Playlist by October Firm (2017) reached the Hot 100, accounting for 47 of his record-breaking tally of 208 entries alone.

The Toronto-born entertainer, nicknamed “Drizzy” or “Champagne Papi”, racked up an unprecedented 431 consecutive weeks (or eight years 88 days) on the Hot 100 with multiple singles between 23 May 2009 and 19 August 2017. He achieved another significant first on 14 July 2018, when he flooded the chart with 27 tracks simultaneously (including 25 from Scorpion), a record seven of which landed in the Top 10.

Drake also featured prominently on Travis Scott’s 2018 chart-topper “SICKO MODE” and “BedRock” (2009), the No.2 hit by the hip-hop collective Young Money Entertainment, but neither track is included among the 208 hits as Drake was not individually credited.

As of 21 March 2020, the 10 acts with the most entries on the Hot 100 since its inception on 4 August 1958 were: Drake – 208; Glee Cast – 207; Lil Wayne (solo artist record holder until the chart dated 8 April 2017) – 168; Elvis Presley – 109; Nicki Minaj – 108; Kanye West – 107; Jay-Z – 100; Chris Brown – 99; Taylor Swift – 97; Future – 93. Active hit-makers Eminem (88) and Justin Bieber (80) were behind James Brown (91) just outside the top 10.

Drake has had six No.1s on the Hot 100: “What’s My Name?” (Rihanna feat. Drake, 2010); “Work” (Rihanna feat. Drake, 2016); “One Dance” (Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla, 2016); “God’s Plan” (2018); “Nice for What” (2018); and “In My Feelings” (2018).
