Australia’s women secured their seventh ICC Women’s World Cup title on 3 April 2022, defeating England by 71 runs in the final at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand. Australia had previously lifted the trophy in 1978, 1982, 1988, 1997, 2005 and 2013. Opener Alyssa Healy set them on their way by smashing the most runs by a player in an ICC World Cup final – 170.

Australia have won seven of the 12 editions of the ICC Women’s World Cup, which first took place in 1973. England (1973, 1993, 2009 and 2017) and New Zealand (2000) are the only other teams to taste success.

Margaret Jennings (1978), Sharon Tredrea (1982), Lyn Larsen (1988), Belinda Clark (1997 and 2005), Jodie Fields (2013) and Meg Lanning (2022) were the captains of the winning Australian teams at the ICC Women’s World Cup.
