The highest individual score in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match is 172 runs, by Aaron Finch (Australia) against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe, on 3 July 2018. Aussie captain/opening batsman Finch smashed 16 fours and 10 sixes in his 76-ball innings to guide the visitors to a formidable 229 for 2. The right-hander beat his own T20I record of 156, set against England on 29 August 2013.
The highest individual score in any Twenty20 match remains 175, by Chris Gayle (Jamaica) in the Indian Premier League on 23 April 2013.
Limited-overs specialist Finch was dismissed hit wicket – off the bowling of Blessing Muzarabani - after 19.4 overs of Australia’s 20-over innings. Zimbabwe’s reply, 129 for 9, condemned the hosts to a 100-run defeat in this Twenty20 Tri-Series match.
