The most people performing pushups is 3,703, and was achieved by United States Air Force Academy (USA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, on 2 October 2026.
The attempt unfolded during a brief window between afternoon classes and lunch, a logistical challenge in itself. Cadets, faculty and staff filtered into the courtyard and checked in by unit or division, each paired with an official steward before instructions were announced over a public address system. That it came together so cleanly, across thousands of participants in a compressed timeframe, speaks to the kind of precision the Academy is known for.
Push-ups, of course, are nothing new to Air Force cadets – they're a standard fixture of military fitness training. But doing them alongside more than 3,700 colleagues, with a Guinness World Records title on the line, carried a different weight. The attempt was advertised widely across the Academy in advance, drawing in not just cadets but faculty and staff who wanted to be part of something bigger. It was designed from the start to build camaraderie and institutional pride, and by all accounts, it delivered.
"Our students, cadets and faculty completed the challenge for so many people in such a short time – this is a truly remarkable feat," said one Academy official. "I am very proud of them." Tina Shi, the official Guinness World Records adjudicator on-site, agreed, calling it "an extremely well-organized and rigorously executed attempt," adding that it was "a great honour" to oversee the record.
