The longest single-handed distance sailed in a dinghy (female) is 338.33 nm (626.59 km/389.34 mi) and was achieved by Fiona Heenan (New Zealand) who sailed from Auckland to Puwheke, New Zealand, between 17 February and 7 March 2025.

Fiona sailed 4-8 hours each day and mostly camped ashore in a tent at night and on a few occasions was hosted in people’s homes. She decided to attempt the record after seeing that Magne Klann had established a new men's record in 2018. She wanted a challenge, an expedition and a chance to explore the beautiful coastline of New Zealand. Fiona also hopes to encourage more women to get involved in dinghy sailing by demonstrating that you do not need to be an elite sailor to have a go at a Guinness World Records title.
