The longest marathon reading aloud by a team is 431 hr 31 min 25 sec, and was achieved by John J. Obot, Keturah Heman, Stephen A. Oyelami, Preciouslight I. Ukachi, and Temitope Ogunremi (all Nigeria) in Lagos, Nigeria, on 30 August 2025.
Through this attempt, which lasted 18 days, the group (Nigeria Reads Initiative) wanted to promote literacy, celebrate Nigerian authors, and unite Nigerian through the culture of reading.
