The longest bill is that of the Australian pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus), at 34–47 cm (13–18½ in) long. The longest beak in relation to overall body length is that of the sword-billed hummingbird (Ensifera ensifera) of the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia. The beak measures 10.2 cm (4 in), making it longer than the bird's actual body if the tail is excluded.
