The longest barbecue marathon lasted 98 hr 8 min and was achieved by Gielie Basson (South Africa), in Calitzdorp, Western Cape, South Africa, on 24 September 2025.
The attempt was undertaken as a personal endurance challenge and to promote South African barbecue culture (“braai”). Gielie cooked Boerewors (South African sausage), chicken thighs, pork rashers, beef rashers, and corn on the cob.
