The largest tin whistle ensembled was formed from 2,516 people at Chadwicks Wexford Park in County Wexford, Ireland, as part of the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann on 8 August 2024.

The ensemble played two traditional Irish tunes – "The Boys of Wexford" (once) and "Dawning of the Day" (repeatedly) – for a minimum of five minutes. The attempt was staged as part of the annual Fleadh Cheoil ("Music Festival"), an Irish folk event founded in 1962 that was being held in Wexford Town for the first time. The location chosen was Wexford's Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) stadium, where the participants were seated in the stands.

The record was adjudicated by Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, who was in County Wexford to visit key locations in the origin story of the famous book of records. It was in 1951, during a shooting party on the North Slob – marshland reclaimed from the River Slaney – that Sir Hugh Beaver, Managing Director of the Guinness Brewery, got himself into a debate about which was the fastest game bird in Europe. The question, and others like it, came up again that evening at Castlebridge House in Wexford, where Sir Hugh was lodging during his trip. Despite consulting the "expensive books" that filled the library at the house, Sir Hugh was unable to find the answers. It then dawned on him that people would be having similar debates and arguments in pubs up and down the length of the UK, and the idea for the first Guinness Book of Records was born.

The trip to the Slob and Castlebridge House was arranged by the Castlebridge Inspire organization, who, along with the Fleadh committee, played a central role in coordinating the record attempt.
