Earth is the largest terrestrial planet, the densest and most geologically active inner planet and the only body in the Solar System with significant liquid water on its surface. Our planet is home to the only known life in the universe. It has a diameter of 12,742 km (7,917.5 mi), a mass of around 5.9722 × 1021 tonnes (6.5832 × 1021 US tons)
The name “Earth” is around 1,000 years old and has its roots in Old English and Proto-Germanic nouns. All other planets in the Solar System bear Greek or Roman titles.
