The largest hokey cokey dance included 7,384 participants, and was organised by FRY fest (USA) at FRY fest in Coralville, Iowa, USA, on 3 September 2010. The attempt was organized by Sara Beck of Cedar Rapids in honor of her mother, Carmella Gallagher, who passed away in 2003. Carmella loved to dance and it was a dream of hers to be in Guinness World Records. The record attempt took place at FRY fest, an annual festival celebrating all things related to the Iowa Hawkeyes college football team, and the hokey pokey was led by legendary Iowa football coach Hayden Fry.
