The largest clay pot (baked) measured 1.27 m (4 ft 2 in) in height, 2.51 m (8 ft 3 in) in width, and was achieved by the Municipality of Metepec, in Metepec, Mexico, on 7 September 2014. Metepec is known for its clay artisan work. The Municipality of Metepec worked with a local artisan, Bernardo Camacho, to commission the clay pot. The clay pot took 4 months to build and had to dry for 2 months, completely covered, before any detail work could be done. It was baked twice using traditional techniques by building the oven around the pot and large pots of rice surrounding the oven to circulate moisture during the baking process. Baked clay pots are traditionally used to serve tacos de plaza. The Municipality also broke the record for the largest serving of tacos using this clay pot on the same date.
