The highest fixed metal climbing route or via ferrata (Italian: "iron path") is Sky's Way to Sagarmatha, which spans from an altitude of 5,100 m to 5,400 m (16,732 ft to 17,716 ft) up the Tashi Laptsa Pass in Nepal.
The steel pathway is also referred to as the Via Ferrata Drolambau Ice Fall and the Via del Cielo. It was designed and created by Explora Nunaat International (Italy) and installed between 2017 and 2019 to ensure the safety of trekkers, climbers and porters negotiating the steep-sided route to the Khumbu icefalls. The cableway was due to be inaugurated as part of the Visit Nepal 2020 celebrations but, owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, the event was cancelled.
