The world's highest audience for a TV documentary is 39 million for CBS' 9/11 (USA) programme which was broadcast in the USA on 10 March 2002.
The documentary contained footage from French filmmakers, Jules and Gedeon Naudet, who were working on their own documentary about New York firefighters, at the time of the attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York on 11 September 2001.
