The heaviest pumpkin weighed 1,431.5 kg (3,156 lb) and was grown by Ron Wallace (USA) as verified at the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off at Frerichs Farm in Warren, Rhode Island, USA, on 10 October 2026, by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.

This is the first ever pumpkin (and indeed any fruit) to weigh in over the 3,000-lb mark, truly making this a major milestone in the history of cultivation. It was grown from a 2731 Stelts 2024 seed.

It's not the first time that Wallace has shattered weight thresholds in this field. In 2006, he claimed a world record with a 681.3-kg (1,502-lb) specimen (the first pumpkin to surpass 1,500 lb) , while in 2012 he became the first grower to go beyond 2,000 lb with a 911.27-kg (2,009-lb) gourd.

Reflecting on his impressive history with giant pumpkins, Wallace told GWR: "[My first two records] were both historic accomplishments at the time but this one feels a bit more special. I had a few off growing years as I was taking a more scientific approach. It felt great to see it all come together!"

Incredibly this surpassed a record confirmed just a week earlier of 1,295.8 kg (2,856 lb 12.8 oz) for a pumpkin grown by Ian Paton (UK), who in 2025 had claimed the world title with his twin brother, Stuart, with another pumpkin that tipped the scales at 1,278.8 kg (2,819 lb 4 oz).
