The most Gurning World Championship wins by a female is 28 by Anne Woods (UK, 1947–2015), achieved at the Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria, between 1977 and 2014.

Woods started gurning in 1977 after her family nominated her as a playful prank. Despite being apprehensive, she won the competition. Except for a year when she was expecting her daughter Brenda, Woods never missed a Crab Fair, where she became known for her performances set to the tune of her signature track, "You're Gorgeous".

After dominating various gurning championships across the globe, Woods passed away in 2015 at the age of 67. In 2010, she had collapsed outside the competition room after her four-minute performance. However, she battled through and bounced back to participate in the next competition despite health concerns.
