The greatest distance travelled by train in 24 hours is 5,887.76 km (3,658.48 miles) and was achieved by Wang Dong (China), travelling from Shenzhen North Station to Yibin Station (both China), on 14-15 February 2025.
After two years of rigorous preparation — and a failed attempt the previous year — Wang Dong finally realized his dream. He journeyed from Shenzhen to Beijing, then to Shanghai, Guiyang, and finally to Yibin, with only 40 seconds to spare before the 24-hour mark. At the end of his attempt, he pays tribute to the transformative power of China’s railway system, whose rapid development and efficiency made the impossible possible.
