Evgeni Malkin (Russia) became the first National Hockey League (NHL) player in 89 years to score goals in his first six games while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins (USA) from 18 October to 1 November 2006. Malkin matched the mark shared by Joe Malone, Newsy Lalonde and Cy Denneny (all Canada), who scored in their first six games during the NHL's inaugural season in 1917-18.
