Adventurer David Hempleman-Adams (UK) is the first person to have completed the 'Adventurers Grand Slam', a gruelling challenge that involves climbing the highest peak on every continent and trekking to the North and South Poles. He also reached both magnetic poles. David Hempleman-Adams began his quest in 1980 by climbing Mt McKinley in Alaska, USA and completed it 18 years later when he and fellow adventurer Rune Gjeldnes (Norway) walked to the North Pole from March to May 1998.
