The first strategy game on a computer was OXO, a version of Noughts and Crosses (known in the US as Tic-Tac-Toe), which was recreated on the EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator) by Alexander S. Douglas of the USA in 1952. OXO was ground breaking in a number of ways, as it was also the first multiplayer game. GWR Video Gamer's Edition 2008, title: First multiplayer game.
