The earliest football game to allow players to control their team from a side perspective (stadium viewpoint) was International Soccer. The game – also known as NASL Soccer – was released on the Atari 2600 in 1980. This side-on playing perspective has since become the default view for many leading football games, including the FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer games.
