Sir Paul McCartney and Wings – with the help of producer Sir George Martin (all UK) – created "Live and Let Die", which, in 1973, became the first Bond theme to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. It peaked at No.2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, but lost the Oscar to Barbra Streisand's "The Way We Were", from the movie of the same name.
Since 1973, five Bond themes have been Oscar-nominated: "Nobody Does It Better" (1977), "For Your Eyes Only" (1981), "Skyfall" by Adele (2012 – the first Bond theme to win Best Original Song), "Writing's on the Wall" (2015 – winner) and "No Time to Die" (2021 – winner).
