2008 TC3 was a small asteroid only a few metres across and discovered on 6 October 2008. Initial analysis of its orbit indicated it would impact Earth just 21 hours later. At 02:46 (UTC) on 7 October 2008 it entered the atmosphere and exploded some 37 km (23 miles) above Sudan with the equivalent energy of approximately one kiloton of TNT.
