The fastest speed reached by a male windsurfer is 53.49 knots (61.5 mph; 99.06 km/h), by Antoine Albeau (France) on the 500-m Speed Challenge strip in Lüderitz, Namibia, on 1 December 2024. The record was verified by the World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC).
This is the third time that Albeau has broken the record; his first entry in the record books was in 2008, when he reached a speed of 49.09 knots, and he went on to better the record consecutively in 2012 and 2015 with speeds of 52.05 knots and 53.27 knots, respectively.
