The fastest journey from John-O'-Groats to Land's End on electric mobility vehicle (individual) is 22 days 6 hr 16 min, and was achieved by Adam Stanton-Wharmby (UK), from 23 March to 13 April 2023.
Adam has been raising money since 2017 for a number of different charities by showing awareness of the challenges faced by wheelchair users. Adam has cerebral palsy which in his case means that he is unable to walk or have use of his left arm.
He has completed a series of wheelchair marathon challenges (wheel power challenges) which involves driving his wheelchair from city to city. Adam then decided to attempt his biggest challenge yet after discovering that it was a world record which was the journey from John O'Groats to Land's End. He wanted to use this as an opportunity to raise more money for charity which in this case was Whizz Kidz whose purpose is: "To empower young wheelchair users by providing the wheelchairs, equipment, support and confidence-building experiences they need, and campaigning for a more inclusive society."
