The farthest indoor shot put by a female athlete is 22.50 m (73 ft 9.82 in), by Helena Fibingerová (Czechoslovakia) at a meeting in Jablonec, Czechoslovakia, on 19 February 1977. This is the longest-standing IAAF track and field record, indoor or outdoor.

Fibingerová also set three world records in the outdoor shot put.
