The farthest run in one hour by a male athlete is 21,330 metres, achieved by Mo Farah (UK, b. Somalia) on 4 September 2020 at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.


Farah set his first outdoor world record at the age of 37 at the Diamond League exhibition meeting in Brussels. The previous hour record – 21,285 m, by Haile Gebrselassie – had stood for 13 years. The Wavelight pace-guidance system was used, with LED lights on the inside edge of the track giving an indication of world-record pace for the athletes.
