A 17-strong choir, whose members were between 90 and 99 years old, had an average age of 94 between them.

The choir, aka The Prime Timers, was made up of residents from seven care homes in Warwickshire run by Runwood Homes, all the residents came together to attempt the record during a Christmas carol concert at the Crowne Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The event was hosted by actress Sian Reeves and even featured a guest appearance from the legendary singer Tony Christie who performed Amarillo and Silent Night to kick start the event.

The Prime Timers went on to perform 3 songs themselves, one of which was their new hit single ‘Christmas Through the Years’.

Sarah Metcalfe, Managing Director at Music for Dementia, which has been supporting this record attempt stated: “Singing is proven to lift your mood and improve lung health, and music can help manage dementia symptoms like anxiety. All while making friends and getting out of the house. Music brings a care home alive!”
