SSX Tricky (EA Canada, 2001) for the PS2 is the most critically acclaimed snowboarding game as of 4 July 2013, with a Gameranking score of 92.54%. It runs almost neck and neck with other entries in the series, as SSX 3 (PS2, 2003) takes second place with 92.28%, SSX (PS2, 2000) third with 92.17% and SSX 3 (2003) on the GameCube also tops 90%, coming in fourth with 92%.

It’s no coincidence that the racing element of every SSX title bears a strong resemblance to boardercross – in which four snowboarders race each other down snow-covered slopes. The inventor of the sport, Steve Rechtschaffner (USA), was an Executive Producer on the original SSX from 2000. The first boardercross contest was staged in 2001 and it has been an Olympic event since 2006.
