The most appearances in FIFA Women’s World Cup finals by a football player is 7, achieved by Formiga (Brazil, b. Miraildes Maciel Mota) in 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019.

Formiga set the record when she lined up for Brazil’s first game of the 2019 Women’s World Cup, against Jamaica on 9 June 2019. She made three appearances in total and became the oldest player ever at the tournament during Brazil’s Round of 16 loss to France.
