When
New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a computer-controlled “help” feature called the Super Guide, whereby the player is guided to complete a level they are struggling with. The system is the brainchild of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, and can be activated if a player dies eight times on a single level. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a green block appears, with a computer-controlled version of Mario’s brother Luigi automatically completing tricky parts of the level. The player is free to jump in and take over whenever they want. New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been a huge success for Nintendo, with its record sales matched by an excellent Metacritic average of 87%.
