When it comes to the PSP, the Monster Hunter series is clearly the biggest beast, boasting 13.5 million units sold from four games. Before even gaining a worldwide release, Capcom’s 2010 sequel, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, had already sold 4.4 million units in Japan. What’s more, this record is unlikely to be beaten as the series’ nearest rival, the Grand Theft Auto series, has sold “just” 11.4 million units on the PSP, and the handheld will soon be superseded by the PlayStation Vita.
