The MotionScan equipment used by Team Bondi in L.A. Noire required a rig of 32 HD cameras to capture the facial expressions of the game’s various actors. These expressions are key to the most important facet of L.A. Noire’s gameplay, with players tasked with trying to gauge whether or not suspects and witnesses are telling the truth. The motion-capture recording was a time-consuming process; actor Aaron Staton, who plays lead character detective Cole Phelps, spent over 80 hours in MotionScan filming.
