Before the release of Gun Fight, early arcade machines used simple logic-gate circuits to create the games they displayed. The original Gun Fight arcade machines designed by Taito for the Japanese and European markets used this technology. When Midway acquired the rights to publish the game in the USA, they completely redesigned the machine to incorporate the cheaper Intel 8080 microprocessor.
