Taiwan, China (Changhua)

The largest single-dancer lion dance display was achieved by 3,971 schoolchildren of Changhua County (China) at Changhua Stadium, in Changhua, Taiwan, China, on 3 September 2011.

The children, who came from 54 schools across Changhua County, wore Southern lion masks and danced to the rhythm of drums. All were trained for a minimum of 6 months up to 3 years to perform a "Southern Lion Routine", which was developed specifically by the Changhua County Lion and Dragon Dance Campaign Committee for primary school children. The synchronized performance lasted approximately 6 minutes and was overseen by 221 supervisors, one for every 18 children, except for one group of 11 children. All children successfully completed the routine. The event was one of the events leading up to the 2011 Changhua National Games scheduled for October 2011.
