Bernard Hopkins (USA, b. 15 January 1965) extended his record as the oldest boxing world champion when, at the age of 49 years 94 days, he outpointed Beibut Shumenov (Kazakhstan) for the WBA (super) light heavyweight, IBA light heavyweight and IBF light heavyweight title over 12 rounds at the DC Armory, Washington DC, United States on 19 April 2014.

Hopkins also became the oldest boxer to not only defend a world crown but also to unify one.
