Adele’s (UK, b. Adele Adkins) record-shattering 21 returned to No.1 for a 20th non-consecutive week on 28 January 2012. The album’s remarkable run, which began with a No.1 debut on 5 February 2011, places it in 10th position in the list of longest-running No.1 albums of all time in the UK. In the chart’s 56-year history, Elvis Presley’s (USA, 1935-1977) film soundtrack G.I. Blues (1960) is the only album by a solo artist with more weeks at No.1 (22) than 21. This is an update of a record that appeared in GWR 2012. The record text on the database (attempt ID 126968) needs updating.
