The most expensive Silver Age comic (1956-70) is a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (Marvel, 1962) which was sold for $3,600,000 (£2.6 million / €3 million), including buyer's premium, by Heritage Auctions on 9 September 2021.
The comic, written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Steve Ditko (both USA), features the first appearance of the character Peter Parker and his alter-ego Spider-Man, including the iconic origin story of his radioactive spider bite. It sold for just 12 cents when first released!
Two pages from Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #8 sold for a combined $3,648,000 at auction in January 2022; however Amazing Fantasy #15 remains the most expensive single complete comic sold.
