Longest running big wave surfing competition

The longest running organized big wave surfing competition is the Eddie Aikau Memorial held in Hawaii, USA since 1984. The first event took place at Sunset Beach on Oahu’s North Shore, before moving the following year to its current location, Waimea Bay, also on the North Shore. During its history, the event has only been held eight times, due to the precondition that the ocean swell must reach 20 m in height.
