Largest lottery win donated to charity

In July 2010, Allen and Violet Large (Canada), who had won CAN$11,255,272.70 (then US$10.9 million; £6.7 million), gave away approximately 98% of their winnings to groups in their community. The elderly pair gave the money to churches, fire departments, cemeteries, the Red Cross and hospitals, where Ms Large has undergone cancer treatment.
