When it was first ported from the arcade to the Famicom in 1988, Ninja Gaiden (Tecmo, 1988) employed a short animated sequence, or ''cutscene'' to advance the story. While other games had included animated interludes, Ninja Gaiden was the first major example of a game using this to further the plot. Featured in Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2011
