The first videogames console to feature a touchscreen interface was the Game.com, a short-lived handheld from Tiger Electronics (USA), released in September 1997. The Game.com is considered by many commentators to be a commercial failure: in spite of its advanced features including a touchscreen interface and internet connectivity (a huge novelty in 1997), only around 30 games were ever produced.
