Lee Kuan Yew was Prime Minister of Singapore from 1959 to 1990 a total of 31 consecutive years. Despite leaving power Kuan Yew remains an important political figure in Singapore and is "Minister Mentor" to the current Prime Minister, his son Lee Hsien Loong.
