The first officially released videogame soundtrack to sell over 1 million copies – according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) – is NBA Live 2003, which was confirmed as having platinum status in March 2003, only six months after its launch in October 2002. The soundtrack is a part of the EA SPORTS TRAX music initiative that EA launched in 2002, which is "dedicated to bringing in the freshest music to EA''s video games."
