The most wins of the Women’s World Mountain and Trail Running Championships is 7, achieved by Andrea Mayr (Austria) in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2023.
Mayr won her seventh individual world championship title – the women’s vertical uphill event – on 7 June 2023, at the age of 43. She completed the 7.1-km course in Innsbruck-Stubai, Austria, which boasts a total ascent of 1,020 m and a gradient of 40% approaching the finish line, in 48 minutes 14 seconds.
Mayr also holds the women’s record for the Empire State Building Run-Up, climbing the 1,576 steps up to the 86th floor in 11 minutes 23 seconds in 2006.
