Switzerland have won the Men’s 640 kg Tug of War event at the World Games five times: in 1989, 1993, 2005, 2009 and 2013. They have never finished lower than second, winning silver in 1981, 1985 and 2017.
Tug of War is a classic test of strength in which two teams of eight pull against each other from each end of a rope, the winners being the team that manages to pull the other over a centre line. To ensure that sides are evenly matched, teams are placed in weight categories.
