The .me domain is the Internet country code for Montenegro, which gained independence from Serbia and Montenegro in 2006. Registration for .me domains was made available on 16 July 2008. By January 2010 more than 320,000 .me domains had been sold, making it the fastest-selling top level domain in the history of the Internet. The suffix is popular due to its attractiveness for social networking.
