The largest martial arts display at multiple venues is 53,803 people and was achieved by Chenjiagou Scenic Area Administration (China) in Jiaozuo City and various venues around Zhengzhou, Henan, China on 18 October 2015.

The record attempt was part of a China-wide celebration of tai chi in which an estimated 1 million people took part in tai chi displays across more than 30 cities. The event was also timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of UNESCO and to commemorate UNESCO's A Step for Peace worldwide initiative.

Chenjiagou, the location of the eponymous record holder, is considered to be the birthplace of the tai chi martial art. International tai chi competitions and festivals are regularly held in Chenjiagou and other cities and districts around Zhengzhou in Henan Province, a city which the Chinese consider to be the cradle of civilisation in China. The world-renowned Shaolin Temple is a short distance west of Chenjiagou.

Tai chi is widely taught and practiced across all strata of society in the Zhengzhou area, not least because of the health benefits it offers to all generations.

The display consisted of a continuous loop of four movements - Buddha's Attendant Warrior Pounds Mortar - Lazy About Tying the Coat - Single Whip - Sealing Six Avenues and Closing Four.

These movements comprise the first set of movements in Chen Shi's 56 Movements set of tai chi movements.
