Oldest coral reef

The Chazy Reef Formation is a fossilised coral reef which extends from the US state Tennessee to Newfoundland. Its most significant outcrop occurs at Isle La Motte, Vermont. It originally formed around 450 million years ago in what was then the Iapetus Ocean. It is the oldest known example of structures built by coral.
