The youngest woman to row across any ocean solo is Zara Lachlan (UK, b. 2 April 2003), who was 21 years 208 days old at the start of her row across the Atlantic Ocean from Lagos in Portugal to Cayenne in French Guiana on 27 October 2024. She completed the mainland-to-mainland crossing in 97 days, finishing on 1 February 2025.
Despite it being her first ever ocean crossing, Lachlan covered 3,794 nautical miles (4,366 miles/7,026 km) in the Rannoch R25 Avandra, becoming the first woman to complete a solo and unsupported non-stop row from mainland Europe to mainland South America. Along the way, she encountered dolphins, sharks, marlin and killer whales, and survived a near-miss with a larger vessel. She used the adventure to raise funds for the Women in Sport and Team Forces charities.
